Santiago Tamayo Soler (he/him) is a Montréal-based multidisciplinary artist from Bogotá, Colombia (1990), primarily working in video. With a background in performance art and film, he holds a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University.

Santiago’s practice centers on world-building, crafting digitally constructed universes that intertwine with archival elements such as video, photography, and online-found images. Through these virtual environments, he explores Latin American identity from a diasporic perspective, often drawing on the visual language of familiar formats like video games, telenovelas, and digital cartography. These formats serve as narrative devices, unfolding stories that envision a future steeped in radical fantasy.
Recent screenings and exhibitions include Art and/or Game: Symbiosis or Dissonance? at the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris, FR (05/2023), A psionic hope, an astonishing dream at Trinity Square Video in Toronto, ON (03/2023), and Prémonitions: Immersions & Récits x Massivart + Chromatic Festival in Montréal, QC (04/2023). His work Recado was featured in Sunrise, Sunset at Bradley Ertaskiran in Montréal (Summer 2023). His first solo exhibition, Veneno en la Sangre, was presented at Centre Clark in Montréal (January 2025).

Santiago is one of the recipients of the 2023 EDAA Emerging Digital Artists Award presented by EQ Bank and Trinity Square Video. Santiago was the 2024 artist in residence at the Montréal Fine Arts Museum, as part of Impressions. He has participated in residencies in Dazibao in 2022 (Online), and the PHI Foundation in 2021. In May 2024, Santiago was announced as one of the laureates of the MNBAQ Contemporary Art Award 2025; with an accompanying exhibition at the MNBAQ that opened in February 2025, where he exhibited for the first time his most recent work, Postales.
